An unprecedented challenge. FC Barcelona's six professional sides all lead their respective leagues (men's football, women's football, basketball, futsal, handball and roller hockey) and therefore all have a great chance to lift the league title come the end of the season.
The closest comparisons come in the seasons 2011/12 and 2020/21 when the women's football team and the four professional sections lifted the league trophy, a feat that was unfortunately beyond the men's football team.
The only time something similar has happened before was in the 1998/99 season when all four professional sections were league champions given there was no women's team and that the futsal team were playing in the second division at the time.
The leagues closest at hand
The difference between the leaders and those teams in second place in the league is notable in some instances. Starting with Xavi Hernández's team who are currently 12 points ahead of their closest rivals Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title with 12 games remaining.
Jonatan Giráldez's team are also in control in the league with a lead of 10 points over second placed Real Madrid with just eight games remaining and they have the chance to extend their lead with the Clásico coming up on Saturday 25 March at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Also sitting well placed to claim a league title is the handball team with their 100% record in the campaign giving them a nine point lead over second placed Fraikin Granollers.
These three teams are in with a great chance of lifting the title as the trophy goes to the team leading the table at the end of the season. However, in basketball, roller hockey and futsal, things are not quite that simple.
Play off to decide the league champions
In basketball, roller hockey and futsal the blaugranes not only will have to finish the regular season well placed but also come out on top in the play offs to decide the league title.
At the moment Saras Jasikevicuis' basketball team lead the ACB regular season table level with Real Madrid and Baskonia on 19 wins and four defeats. In futsal, the team is top of the table some six points ahead of second placed Palma Futsal. Finally Edu Castro's roller hockey team have guaranteed themselves top spot in the regular season with four games remaining before the start of the play offs.
