Anna Comet gives talk at La Masia for International Women's Day

For International Women's Day, there was a talk at La Masia today on 'Preparation for the Marathon des Sables' that discussed effort, resilience and success management, given by elite mountain runner Anna Comet. This was one of the activities organised by the FC Barcelona Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department and part of the Continuing Education programme.

The talk on the Auditorium was attended by 40 youngsters, who got the chance to hear Anna Comet speak in person about how she managed to achieve one of her greatest dreams, and how she managed to do that despite becoming a mother. She spoke about her preparations for the Marathon des Sables, one of the toughest sporting events in the world, and which she won in 2022.

“My life was very similar to yours" she said. "I had to leave home at a young age to work at my passion and I was very late becoming a mother because I didn't want it to affect my sports career. But in 2018, I decided to focus on having a family, and became a mother, but also carried on doing sport. Today, my performances are better than ever."

She wanted to send a message out to young athletes that it is quite possible to have a family and also pursue your dreams.
