FC Barcelona tops the ranking for income in women's football

With 7.7 million euros, the club tops the Deloitte Football Money League, which this year includes women's teams for the first time

FC Barcelona is Europe's top-grossing women's football team, according to the 26th edition of the Deloitte Football Money League, which analyses the income of the world's top football teams. This is the first time that women's teams in Europe have been included in the calculations.

The women's teams in the Money League had an average turnover of 2.4 million euros in 2021/22, but Barça has tripled that figure with 7.7 million. Winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2021 and again making the final in 2022, as well as boosting income through marketing and advertising, are the main factors for such success.

FC Barcelona is followed by Manchester United (6 million euros), Manchester City (5.1 million), Paris Saint-Germain (3.6 million), Arsenal (2.2 million) and Tottenham (2.1 million).

Global standard

In recent years the club has been making a major effort to develop its women's football section and the results are clearly showing. While safeguarding sustainability, the section is bringing in more money than ever, and further increases are expected in 2023/24. And all of this is done while ensuring that the women's team is stays in keeping with the club's famous values, and taking the women's game to the fans and members, and making sure that that interest grows.

The growth of the Barça women's team is happening hand in hand with constantly rising interest in the women's game in general. The recent FIFA World Cup 2019 and Women's Euro 2022 attracted unprecedented viewing figures worldwide
