Alexia Putellas has added yet another trophy to her ever-increasing number of individual accolades for the 2021/22 season, in this case at the Globe Soccer Awards.
She was in the Champions League XI, was named UEFA Player of the Year and retained the Ballon d'Or, and now the FC Barcelona captain has won the Globe Soccer Awards 2022 Best Women's Player of the Year award in Dubai. She was unfortunately unable to attend the event at which her club was also among the nominees for team of the year.
Still recovering from a knee injury, she is an essential component of Jonatan Giráldez's team, topping the league goalscoring charts last season with 18 and doing so in the UWCL too with 11. She was named MVP of the Champions League and was also presented with the highest distinction in Catalonia, the Cross of Sant Jordi.
