Ronald Araujo is among the 26 players that Diego Alonso will be taking to the World Cup. However, right now he is carrying an adductor injury that required surgery and his availability to play is hanging on developments.
"We have spoken to Diego Alonso and it might be good for the player to go with his national team to Qatar" said Xavi to the press following the game with Almería last week.
World Cup debut
This is the first World Cup for Araujo, who made his international debut against Ecuador in 2020 in a qualifying game.
Uruguay are in Group H, where they'll be facing South Korea first, then Portugal and finally Ghana.
