Lewandowski in fine form

Lewandowski in fine form

Polish marksman has eight goals in the first six LaLiga games, extending his lead as top goalscorer

Robert Lewandowski is becoming the go to guy. The Polish marksman is in great form and showed against Elche that the lack of goals against Bayern was just a blip. He scored the opener, and then the third goal, making it 3-0 to seal the game in the second half.

He has now scored three braces in the LaLiga this season, adding to those scored against Valladolid and Real Sociedad. He also scored against Cádiz and Sevilla.

As such, after only drawing a blank in the first match against Rayo Vallecano, he has eight goals in the first six LaLiga games and continues to extend his lead as top goalscorer. He has also provided two assists.

In fact, Lewandowski's eight goals means he has scored more than 13 other teams in LaLiga alone. Further proof for his form is that his three braces puts him neck and neck with only Manchester City striker Erling Haaland across Europe.

Third best record

Lewandowski has the third best record after six games in LaLiga this century, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 10 goals during the 2014/15 season, and Leo Messi, who scored 9 in the 2017/18 season.

FC Barcelona's Polish striker has scored his eight goals in only 25 shots (with 17 on target) - a goal conversion percentage of 32%. In other words, one goal every 56 minutes. Astounding numbers.

When he scores, Barça win

Lewy has 11 goals in 8 competitive games across LaLiga and the Champions League, having scored his first hat-trick for Barça in the latter against Viktoria Plzen.

So, he hasn't scored in only two games this season - the draw against Rayo (0-0) and the defeat against Bayern (2-0) - also the only two games Barça didn't win.
