Jules Kounde - who made his LaLiga debut and played the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 win at home to Valladolid at the weekend - is set to return to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium on Saturday (kickoff 9pm CEST), having played for Sevilla for the previous three seasons.
The French defender signed for Sevilla from Girondins de Bordeaux in summer 2019, and established himself as a kingpin in the team and a real favourite among Sevilla fans. Kounde played 133 games for the Andalusian side, scoring nine goals.
His most notable achievement while at Sevilla was winning the Europa League during the 2019/20 season. He was also named in the LaLiga Breakout team of 2020.
Sevilla without Diego Carlos
However, Kounde won't be reacquainted with Diego Carlos - his partner at the centre of defence for most of the three years he spent at the Andalusian club. His Brazilian former teammate signed for West Ham this summer and unfortunately picked up a serious injury that will leave him sidelined for the foreseeable future.
Jules Kounde is returning to a ground he knows very well and where he spent three successful seasons. The game is part of the LaLiga Matchday 4 schedule and comes only 37 days since he signed for Barça. The French defender's last game at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium was on May 22, when he played the entire match that ended Sevilla 1 – 0 Athletic Club.
