Together with his friend and team-mate, and later rival, Josep Samitier, he was one of the most popular Barça players of the 1920s.
He was probably more closely associated at the time to Espanyol (where he was a player, coach and director), while he was only at Barça for three years, Zamora is still regarded as one of Barça's most legendary players, and was the creator of the 'zamorana', a spectacular way of clearing the ball from danger with his elbow. An extraordinary character, and a natural leader like Samitier, in 1958/59 the trophy for the best goalkeeper of the Liga season was named after him, as it still is today. A major testimonial was played in his honour in 1967 between Spain and a World XI.
Zamora is also the only Barça goalkeeper to have scored a competitive goal. On 14 December 1919, he scored in the Catalan Championship against Internacional.
