Barça got back to winning ways after the loss to Sporting CP in the first game at the Record International Masters Futsal tournament. Intensity was the theme throughout the 4-6 win against Benfica, particularly during an effective first half that set Barça on the way to the win. The new signings showed their class with goals for Antonio (1), Catela (1) and Sergio González (2). Lozano was rested and Ferrao and Dídac were missing due to injuries.
Barça dominance
The game began with an early goal for either side, Vinicius Rocha for Benfica after a counterattack, and Adolfo for Barça (1-1, 4 min), assisted by new signing Antonio, who then completed the comeback by scoring the second (1-2, 14 min).
Barça took control of the game, through Pito, Sergio González, and Catela to extend the first half lead to 1-5. Keeper Àlex Lluch also saved a double penalty to keep the lead intact.
Victory confirmed
Benfica reacted in the second half by using a fly goalkeeper, leading to Nunes getting one back to make it 2-5 after 30 minutes. However, Sergio González, scored into an open goal on the next play to make it 2-6. The intensity levels then dropped, enabling Benfica to end the game with a more respectable score of 4-6.
Barça also claimed a 4-5 Record International Masters Futsal tournament penalty shootout win to go with their victory.
