As many as five FC Barcelona players appear among the 100 candidates for the Golden Boy award for 2022, namely Pedri, Gavi, Nico, Ansu Fati and Baldé. Tuttosport, the magazine that oversees the prize, announced the initial shortlist of the top 100 players under 21 years of age this Wednesday.
Let's not forget that Pedri is the current Golden Boy award winner, after amassing 318 points for the last edition, 199 more than second-placed Jude Bellingham.
FC Barcelona is the most represented team, matched solely by Borussia Dortmund, although that is including Karim Adeyemi who has only just joined the German club. Jude Bellingham, Jayden Jezairo, Youssoufa Moukoko and Giovanni Reyna are also listed for the Bundesliga club.
Other candidates from LaLiga include Nico Williams (Athletic Club), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Yunus Musah (Valencia) and Yerémi Pino (Villarreal). Former Barça player Ilaix Moriba has also been nominated.
