Gavi's record breaking first season

The blaugrana midfielder played 47 games for the first team, setting several records

Midfielder Gavi ended the season having made 47 appearances for the first team in a campaign in which his excellent performances saw him become a regular face in the starting line up. Furthermore, during the season Gavi set several records both with Barça and the Spanish national side.

Official debut for the first team

Gavi made his debut for the first team in a game between Barça and Getafe on 29 August. The blaugrana became the fourth youngest player ever to play for FC Barcelona.

Excellent stats

In Gavi's 47 appearances the midfielder scored two goals, both coming at Camp Nou, finding the net against Elche and then against Atlético Madrid. His strike against Elche came when he was just 17 years and 135 days old, making him the third youngest for Barça of all time after Ansu Fati (16 years, 304 days) and Bojan Krkic (17 years, 53 days).

Aside from his two goals, Gavi also provided assists for Nico against Osasuna and against Elche, Aubameyang against Valencia and Pedri against Levante.

History with the Spanish national side

Last October, Gavi also became the youngest player to win his first international cap for Spain. He was 17 years and 62 days old when he broke a record set by Ángel Zubieta way back in 1936.

Recently, he was just 17 years and 304 days old when he scored against the Czech Republic on Sunday, a week younger than his Barça colleague Ansu Fati was when he scored his first international goal in 2020.
