Xavi Hernández and his team will be beginning their US Tour 2022 with a game against Inter Miami on 19 July at 7.30pm local time (1.30am the following day CEST) in Miami, Florida.
The venue
The game will be played at the DRV PNK Stadium, where the Miami based side play home games in Major League Soccer.
It will be Barça’s first ever game at the ground that opened in 2020 and holds 18,000 spectators.
First ever meeting
Inter Miami was created in January 2018 and made its MLS debut in 2020, and being such a young side it is no surprise that the Catalans have never played them before.
But this is not Barça’s first ever visit to the city. They have been there three times before, first in 2011 for a 4-1 defeat to Chivas de Guadalajara (Mexico) at the Sun Life Stadium.
The two return visits produced more positive results. In 2017 Barça beat Real Madrid 3-2 and in 2019 they beat Napoli 2-1, on both occasions at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Inter may be a young side, but they are not short on well-known faces. David Beckham, formerly of Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan, among many others, is one of the owners and main drivers of the club, while the team is coached by his former team-mate for club and country Phil Neville. The most recognisable star is probably Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín, but others include Kieran Gibbs, DeAndre Yedlin and Leonardo Campana.
