On 31 July at 7.00pm in New Jersey and 1.00am CEST the following day, FC Barcelona will be taking on the New York Red Bulls in the fourth and final game of their 2022 US Tour, following fixtures against Inter Miami, Real Madrid and Juventus.
The venue
The venue will be the Red Bull Arena, Harrison, NJ in what will be Barça’s first ever appearance at the ground that opened in 2010 and holds 25,000 spectators. This is where the Red Bulls play home games in Major League Soccer.
Previous meetings
Barça and the New York Red Bulls are meeting for the third time, with the US side still looking for their first win.
In the 2006 tour, the Catalans won 4-1 in a friendly at the Giants Stadium, now the Metlife Stadium, with goals from Messi, Saviola and Ronaldinho (2).
They met again in 2008, and at the same venue, with another Barça win, this time 6-2 with goals from Xavi Hernández, Márquez, Jeffren, Pedro and Eto'o (2).
Xavi has been involved in all three games, only this time he will be coaching rather than playing. His opposite number is former Austria international Gerhard Struber, while the standout players include Caden Clark, currently on loan from Red Bull Leipzig and a graduate of the Barça Residency Academy.
