On a crazy evening in the Ciutat de València stadium in which Barça gave away three penalties, the game against Levante appeared to be heading for a draw until the appearance of Luuk de Jong. The Dutch striker headed home Jordi Alba's cross at the near post to hand the blaugranes another valuable victory.
It is not the first time that Luuk de Jong has scored a vital goal this season. At Levante he came on in the 84th minute and just 11 minutes later he grabbed the winner. In face in his last 38 minutes on the pitch in the league, the Dutchman has found the net three times - a goal every 12 and a half minutes.
In the Catalan derby against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, De Jong's header salvaged a point for the blaugranes and allowed them to continue on their unbeaten run which now stands at 15 matches in La Liga.
After being on the field just eight minutes in the game against Espanyol, Luuk de Jong played the final 15 minutes against Valencia without finding the net. However, in his next appearance, the final six minutes of the clash with Athletic Club at Camp Nou, the Dutchman managed to score once again.
Three goals in 38 minutes, two of which were vital in securing Barça a draw and a victory. "He is an example to follow," said Xavi after the win at Levante. De Jong's six goals in La Liga have meant six points for the blaugranes, reward for a model professional who scores when it matters.
