A Barça player for the last month and a half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already scored six goals in his first nine appearances in a Barça shirt. The striker appeared before the press on Wednesday in Istanbul ahead of the blaugranes' last 16 tie second leg clash with Galatasaray on Thursday.
"We are ready for this game. We know what is awaiting us and we really want to win, it's important for the team," began an Aubameyang confident that the team can make it through after the goalless draw in the first leg at Camp Nou.
"It's always special playing at their ground with the atmosphere it generates. I hope it is a great game. We have to think about our style, the pace and the intensity we want to impose on the game will be key to winning and making it to the last eight," added the striker.
Asked about his own personal form since joining Barça, the Gabon international admitted he was happy but not surprised. "I am happy - I expected to settle in and I have worked a lot on doing well right from the start. When you come to a team like Barça with the talent and the help you get, it is a lot easier," he explained.
"I am looking forward to maintaining my current level and working hard I think I can do it."
New coach, familiar team mate
With regards to his preferred position on the field, Aubameyang revealed it depends on the team: "At Barça I feel comfortable playing as a striker but at Arsenal I was better on the left wing."
On what he has learned playing under Xavi Hernández, he replied: "We have worked a lot on intensity when I pressure and I am also learning to play in confined spaces."
Finally, when asked about his team mate Ousmane Dembélé whom he played with at Borussia Dortmund Aubameyang was positive. "I think he looks good. He is training well and playing well, creating a lot of goals. I played a lot with Ousmane before and I have no doubts about him. The most important thing is that he is happy and I am happy to be playing with him."
