FC Barcelona and Granada CF have reached an agreement on the loan of Alpha Diounkou until 30 June 2022, and reserves the option to purchase the player at the end of the season. He had played the first half of the campaign on loan to San Fernando CD in group 2 of Primera RFEF Footers, the same category as Barça B.
Diounkou passed his Monday medical at Hospital de Barcelona and at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The 20-year-old born in Sindone (Senegal) then got to make his first contact with the Estadi Johan Cruyff, dressed in blaugrana. Diounkou will get his first experience of Barça training on Tuesday at 11.00am in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Power at the back
The defender started out in the Mallorca youth system in the city where he grew up, and at the age of 15 moved to Manchester City, where he won the Premier League 2. This earned him a move to Granada, although he played 13 games of the current season on loan to San Fernando, and was in the side that faced Barça B at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
“I’m a fast, hard-working player and I’m coming to Barcelona to learn and improve” he said.
Diounkou has dual Spanish and Senegalese nationality and has played at U17 level for Spain and U20 level for Senegal.
