Ferran Torres has finally got to make his first appearance for FC Barcelona, and against none other than Real Madrid in Wednesday’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final which ended in a 3-2 defeat in extra time after a gutsy performance from Xavi Hernández's team.
The adventure began for the new Barça number 19 back on 28 December 2021, when his transfer from Manchester City was announced. After being presented to the Camp Nou his incorporation to the club was also hampered by Covid-19, but he was finally available for selection in the game at the King Fahd Stadium, Riyadh.
And Xavi had no intention of reserving his new acquisition. At the first chance, Torres was thrown right into the starting eleven, lining up in attack alongside Ousmane Dembélé and Luuk de Jong on a quest to get the ball into the net defended by Thibaut Courtois.
