Griezmann: Hot against Athletic
FC Barcelona will be looking to make it two wins out of two in La Liga 2021/22 on Saturday, and at San Mamés they have the perfect man for the job. Antoine Griezmann has a habit of delivering the goods when it comes to games against Athletic Club.
The Frenchman’s first Liga experiences were as a Real Sociedad player, and he was involved in eight derbies against the side from Bilbao. He failed to score in any of the first four, but then hit the target once in each of the next three.
After moving to Atlético Madrid, Griezmann scored a hat-trick in his very first game against Athletic, a 4-1 win in Bilbao. In total, he scored five goals and gave five assists in his ten games against the Basques.
At FC Barcelona, he has continued his form against the ‘Lions’. He has scored in his last three encounters, getting two in the Spanish Super Cup and one in both the league and cup meetings.
In total, Griezmann has been involved in 15 goals in 22 games against Athletic Club. He’s scored nine and provided a further six assists. And whenever he has scored, he has never been on the losing side (six wins and one draw).
