Barça Women 6-0 Juventus Women: Historic Gamper victory

The first ever appearance by the women's team in the traditional curtain-raiser to the season ends in a massive win against the Italian champions

FC Barcelona’s women’s team have passed their first ever Joan Gamper Trophy test with flying colours, putting six goals past Italian champions Juventus at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

The first half performance was simply phenomenal. Alèxia set up Aitana to open the scoring after just two minutes, and then Jenni Hermoso converted off Graham Hansen to make it 2-0 before the game had barely started.

Barça powered on with Irene Paredes converting from a corner to claim her first goal in a blaugrana jersey after 12 minutes and the game was just over a quarter of an hour old when Jenni Hermoso (named MVP at the end of the game) scored her second. 4-0!.

Graham Hansen capped a lovely run down the right with goal number five, and immediately after the break 19-year-old Bruna Vilamala pounced on a misjudged clearance by the Juve keeper to chip in the cheekiest of finishes.

It was now just a matter of many Barça were going to win by, but despite the blistering start there were no further goals to come. All the same, with 23 goals for and none against in their first two friendlies, it doesn’t look like goals are going to be lacking from this side this year.

A simply fabulous display augurs more great things from the Barça women in the 2021/22 season.
