Pedri González has been named best young player at Euro 2020. The Barça midfielder had a spectacular tournament despite his youth (18 years) and is a worthy winner of the award.

Pedri played all of Spain’s six games apart from a couple of minutes at the very end of the quarter final against Switzerland, which with extra time included means he played an average of more than 100 minutes a game.
He completed the tournament with an extraordinary 421/461 pass rate (91.32%), in the semi-final against Italy making a particularly spectacular 65/67 (97%), and that was against such a brilliant team as Italy, who went on to win the trophy.
The 76.1 km was the third highest amount of ground covered in the competition, topped only by Jorginho and Philips, who played one game more. The youngest player ever to appear for Spain in the Euros also received 13 fouls and recovered 25 balls. Exceptional stats for a player who is only just starting – and who has a glowingly bright future ahead of him.
