By starting today’s game with Atlético Madrid, Pedri has become the second youngest player to complete his first 50 appearances for FC Barcelona. Aged just 18 years and five months, the only player to reach so many games quicker was Bojan Krkic, who played his 50th game just three days after his 18th birthday. Leo Messi, who was considerably older at 19 years and 7 months, drops to third.
No other player under 20 has played 50 games for the team. Ousmane Dembélé is next on the list (21 years 8 months), followed by Neymar Jr (22 years and 8 months) and Arthur and Munir (23 years and 1 month).
It’s also very rare for a player to play that many games in his first year at the club. There have only been two since the 2013/14 season, namely Arturo Vidal (53 games 2018/19) and Ivan Rakitic (51 games in 2014/15).
However, Brazilian Paulinho (49 games in 2017/18) and Frenchman Antoine Griezmann (48 games in 2019/20) did come very close.
