A record setting generation. Three members of the Barça squad have become record winners of the Copa del Rey; a record at FC Barcelona and a record in the competition itself. Leo Messi, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué now have seven Copa del Rey titles to their names following the 4-0 win over Athletic Club in La Cartuja on Saturday.
Before the final the three players were level on six titles with two other Barça legends, Andrés Iniesta and Joan Segarra. Now with seven Copas del Rey in the bag Messi, Sergio and Piqué join Athletic Club legends from the early to mid 20th century José Maria Belauste and Piru Gaínza as record holders in the competition.
Barça’s fourth captain Sergi Roberto is hot on their heels with six titles to his name after the Club’s latest triumph in the competition, equalling Iniesta and Segarra with Jordi Alba and Marc ter Stegen just behind on five.
