Leo Messi was one of the stars of Barça's victory against Athletic Club, on the night when football returned to the Camp Nou after a month away. His goal was his 650th for Barça in 755 games.
It was also his 49th free-kick for Barça, (he has 6 more with Argentina). In 2021 Messi has scored two direct free-kicks, including at Granada (0-4), Barça's next opponent this Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey.
With his latest strike, Messi is still very much alive in the fight for the Pichichi Trophy. With 12 goals scored in the league, he is only two behind Luis Suárez, who scored a double for Atlético Madrid at Cádiz on Sunday.
Sixty-nine days after suffering a tear in his right thigh against Atlético in the Wanda Metropolitano, Sergi Roberto returned to play the last 25 minutes of the match. He played inside right, taking the place of Pjanic, and participated in the play that led to Griezmann's winner.
