Like the rest of the world, FC Barcelona is on mourning. The death of Diego Armando Maradona on Wednesday has come as a shock to everyone, and especially to the clubs where he played, which include FC Barcelona, his home from 1982 to 1984.
The flags around the Camp Nou are all flying at half-mast and a minute’s silence will be respected prior to the game against Osasuna this Sunday at 2.00pm CET, as announced by interim president Carles Tusquets.
As soon as the club heard for the sad news, it published a message of gratitude to the Argentinian and of condolences to his family. This was just one of thousands of reactions on social media to the loss of one of the greatest players ever to grace the game.
FC Barcelona expresses its deepest condolences regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona, a player for our club (1982-84) and an icon of world football. Rest in peace Diego
