Ansu Fati began the 20/21 LaLiga season with his goalscoring instincts intact. The young Barça forward, now a first-team player and wearing his new No.22, was key in FC Barcelona's victory against Villarreal (4-0).
In fact, he couldn't have made a better start because within 20 minutes he had already scored twice, and on 34 he earned a penalty which Leo Messi dispatched with aplomb.
Ansu Fati, therefore, became Barça's first official goalscorer in the 20/21 league campaign and the sixth footballer in LaLiga history to score the opening goal for his team in a season before turning 18 years old. Prat (Espanyol 1928-29), Pombo (Racing 1933-34), Asensi (Elche 1967-68), Miguel (Atleti 1984-85) and Fabrice (Málaga 2012-13) were the others.
The other Barça first-team player born in 2002 also had a special night. Pedro González 'Pedri' has fulfilled a dream he had since he was little and played his first official minutes for Barça at the Camp Nou. The young midfielder replaced Coutinho on 69.
Two of the other summer signings, Francisco Trincão and Miralem Pjanic, also made debut, with the former replacing Griezmann while Pjanic replaced Sergio. Both players came on in the 79th minute.
