The highest point of the whole season is upon us. Barça are off to Lisbon to play in the final stage of a Champions League with a difference – a straight knockout format in just one week in a single city, and with no supporters in the stadiums.
Quique Setién has named the squad of 26 players to take on Bayern Munich at the Stadium of Light in this Friday’s quarter final.
The names are as follows: Ter Stegen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Suárez, Messi, O. Dembélé, Neto, Lenglet, Griezmann, Jordi Alba, Braithwaite, S. Roberto, F. De Jong, Vidal, Junior, Iñaki Peña, Riqui Puig, Ansu Fati, R. Araujo, Monchu, Mingueza, Konrad, Reis and Jandro.
Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé is in the team despite not having been declared fully fit, and Martin Braithwaite also travels despite not being eligible to play in the competition. Samuel Umtiti, however, will stay in Barcelona to continue his recovery programme.
Final session in Barcelona
On Wednesday the team worked out for the final time before Thursday morning’s trip to the Portuguese capital. The first team were joined by the same group of Barça B players that have been training with the senior team in recent weeks.
