The Champions is not far from restarting, and there are just eight days to go before Barça play Napoli. And so happens to also be the number of players in the current squad who have scored goals against Italian sides in the past: Leo Messi, Luis Suárez, Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Antoine Griezmann and Ansu Fati.
Player | Goals | Opponents |
Leo Messi | 12 | Milan, Roma & Juventus |
Luis Suárez | 7 | Roma, Inter & Juventus |
Gerard Piqué | 5 | Roma & Inter |
Ivan Rakitic | 2 | Juventus |
Antoine Griezmann | 2 | Roma & Napoli |
Jordi Alba | 2 | Milan & Inter |
Sergio Busquets | 1 | Milan |
Ansu Fati | 1 | Inter |
Notes:
Leo Messi is way out in front, with 12 goals in 12 games. But curiously, although he had faced six different clubs, the goals have all come against the same three teams. He didn’t score against Udinese or Inter Milan, or in the first leg against Napoli either.
Gerard Piqué is in a commendable third in the list considering he is a defender!
Antoine Griezmann’s goal against Roma was scored as an Atlético Madrid player.
Ansu Fati’s goal against Inter made him the youngest goalscorer of all time in the Champions League.
