The future Camp Nou will maintain its current structure that was created in 1953 by the architects Francesc Mitjans, José Soteras Mauri and Lorenzo García Barbón, characteristics of which have made it an iconic stadium: an elegant curved stand that offers excellent visibility and a roof to the main stand that has served as inspiration for the architects whose proposal won the international competition to find the new design, Nikken Sekkei and Pascual-Ausió Architects.
The elegantly designed roof to the main stand has become a symbol of Camp Nou will pass from being positioned inside the stadium to instead turning towards the outside of the stadium, forming exterior cantilevers which will be roof for the communal spaces, services and terraces and also form an open facade out on to the esplanade. The future Camp Nou will be a unique stadium, innovative with a personality like no other.
