Monchu's first half goal against Sabadell gave Barça B a fifth victory of the season, taking them up into the play-off places. The Johan Cruyff Stadium has become a fortress for the young side, and with five games played there they've yet to taste defeat (three wins and two draws).
Aware of the difficulty of overcoming a rival like Sabadell, Garcia Pimienta's side took a very serious approach to the game. Álex Collado had already stung the keeper's fingertips before a great move ended with Saverio assisting Monchu to open the scoring.
Sabadell picked up the pace, but Barça B's defensive strength prevented them from equalising. Hiroki Abe, who replaced Saverio in the second half, saw his powerful shot stopped by Mackay, and that was the closest that the blaugrana came to adding a second. Iñaki Peña, who had rarely been called upon throughout the match, saved his team during injury time with two great stops.
The win saw Barça B move up to fourth place with 18 points, three behind the leader, Lleida.
