FC Barcelona are the solitary leaders of La Liga thanks to a great 3-0 win in Ipurua against Eibar, and Real Madrid's 1-0 loss to Mallorca in Son Moix.
Barça did not have the best of starts to the campaign, losing against Athletic and Granada and picking up a draw at Osasuna in their first three away games. However, Ernesto Valverde's side have won five games in a row - four in La Liga and one in the Champions League, and the blaugranes now have 19 points in the league, one more than Zinedine Zidane's side, two more than Granada in third and three more than Atlético Madrid in fourth.
Two of those came at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez against Getafe (0-2), a traditionally testing fixture, and at Ipurua (0-3), meaning that Barça are league leaders for the first time this season. In fact, Barça have a point more than last year at this stage and have also improved their defensive numbers thanks to conceding a goal less.
The last time Barça won four consecutive matches in the league was between February 16 and March 30, 2019. Valladolid (1-0), Sevilla (2-4), Real Madrid (0-1), Rayo Vallecano (3-1), Real Betis (1-4) and Espanyol (2-0) were defeated in a six-game winning run.
