Once again, the Gamper game marks the beginning of the season at Camp Nou for the blaugranes. A fit burst stadium saw the first team squad presented ahead of the 54th edition of the fixture, this year against Arsenal.
Around 30 minutes before kick off the first player appeared from the tunnel, Marc-André ter Stegen, the number 1. The rest of the squad made their way out in order of team shirt number before the final four to appear where the four first team captains: Sergi Roberto, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.
With all the players out on the field, it was the turn of coach Ernesto Valverde to say a few words to the crowd: "We always want to win and this season we will fight so that next May we are in with a chance in all competitions."
Then, came captain Lionel Messi: "I am confident that this squad will battle again in all competitions. This club always fights for everything and this year will be no different. I hope you all return with renewed hopes and desire." Words from the number 10; let the season commence!
