Frenkie De Jong was a busy man on Friday, as he was presented as an FC Barcelona player, signed his contract with the club, wore the club shirt in front of the fans and responded to questions in an evening press conference.
Officially presented
At the Llotja President Suñol, accompanied by Josep Maria Bartomeu, De Jong put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at FC Barcelona for the next five seasons. The former Ajax player then held up his new shirt, with 'F. De Jong' on the reverse, to pose alongside his family and members of the board.
On the pitch at the Camp Nou
From there, the Dutch talent headed to the pitch at the Camp Nou, where 19,850 fans gathered to see the new signing in person. With the ball at his feet, De Jong showed off his keep-up skills and dribbling alongside children from the FCB Escola soccer school, before kissing the FC Barcelona badge on his shirt.
The 20th player from the Netherlands to join FC Barcelona addressed the crowd, acknowledging that "The Camp Nou is amazing, and I can't wait to get started here." The feeling was mutual, as the supporters in attendance cheered on a player who has attracted much anticipation.
