From September, the city of Amman will be the home of the new Barça Academy Jordan, the third venue for the project in the Middle East. FC Barcelona will strengthen their presence in the territory with a facility that adds to those already set up in Kuwait and Dubai, complimenting the Barça Academy Camps that have been run in Jordan since 2017.
In addition, the relationship between the partner of this new academy, Stryx, and FC Barcelona stretches back over a decade, as since 2008 they have run the school in Dubai which has brought together over 800 athletes in a single season. Just like at other academies in the area, the new project is aimed at young players aged between 4 and 18 years of age.
The location of the Barça Academy Jordan will be one of the most prestigious international schools in the country: The Amman Baccalaureate School (ABS), where Barça Academy Camps have previously been celebrated with great success. The selection trials will be held over the coming weeks, so as to be able to begin activities in September.
The selection of this new venue for the project is also supported by the great following that football has in Jordan, both in terms of playing the sport and watching it on televisión. FC Barcelona are the club with the most fans in the area.
Fifty-two permanent Barça Academy projects in all five continents
Barça Academy are FC Barcelona's own football schools for boys and girls, and which focus on the comprehensive education of its pupils. The model has been exported internationally, the idea being to expand the Barça brand and teach the rest of the world about the club’s philosophy and values.
The schools work with their own, unique system based on the same methodology that Barça uses from its youngest academy teams through to the senior team, encouraging a creative and attack-minded style of play indispensably combined with the teaching of values: respect, humility, effort, ambition and teamwork, with proven success.
FC Barcelona currently has a total of 52 Barça Academy projects around the world, plus more than 180 campuses and 50 clinics, in 56 countries on all five continents, involving more than 45,000 children in the different activities that they run.
The Barça Academy projects are divided into Barça Escola Barcelona, the Barça Academy Pro in Haikou (China) and New York (USA), Barça Residency Academy Arizona (USA) and the 48 Barça Academy in all five continents.
