Liverpool earned an important victory at Cardiff as they continue their fight to keep the Premier League title race alive. After beating Porto (1-4) in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and knowing that their opponent in the semifinals will be FC Barcelona, Klopp's players had the Welsh team as their next domestic opponent.
The visitors dominated throughout against a very intense opponent who are in desperate need of points to stay in the division. The goals, however, were difficult to come by. A corner kick by Alexander-Arnold in the 57th minute was finished off spectacularly by Wijnaldum to give the Reds some breathing space, and in the final stretch of the match Milner scored the second from the penalty spot. With the win Liverpool now have 88 points, two more than Manchester City but having played an extra game.
FC Barcelona and Liverpool will face each other on May 1 at the Camp Nou, in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.
