Barça to face Liverpool in the Champions League semis

Liverpool will be the opponents of FC Barcelona in the semifinals of the Champions League after, this Wednesday, the English team cracked the final four of the competition, along with Barça, Ajax and Tottenham. Liverpool advanced after beating Porto in the quarterfinals, 6-1 on aggregate — 2-0 in the first leg at Anfield, with goals from Keita and Firmino, and 4-1 in the return leg at the Estadio do Dragão, with goals from Mané, Salah, Firmino and Van Dijk.
Barça beat Olympique Lyonnais in the last 16 and Manchester United in the quarterfinals, while Liverpool disposed of Bayern Munich in the last 16 and the aforementioned Porto in the quarterfinals. This semifinal tie between FC Barcelona and Liverpool will start at the Camp Nou; Anfield, the legendary English stadium, will host the second leg. The first leg will be played in Barcelona on Wednesday 1 May at 9.00pm CEST with the return leg in Liverpool on Tuesday 7 May also at 9.00pm CEST.
Prior clashes
There have been eight matches in European competition between FC Barcelona and Liverpool FC. The English side have always gone through in the knockout stages: in the 1975/76 UEFA Cup semi-final, in the 2000/01 UEFA Cup semi-final, and in the 2006/07 Champions League round of 16. In addition, in the 2001/02 group stage, Barça won at Anfield (1-3) and drew at Camp Nou (0-0).
