Barça B earned a crucial 2-1 victory over Teruel at the Miniestadi, bouncing back after conceding early to pick up three points and keep dreaming of a playoff berth.
Lively first half
Unusually playing in their away strip at home, the reserves dominated the early possession but were stunned by an unexpected early goal by Becerra.
Almost immediately, Abel Ruiz came close to scoring in a 1-on-1, but fired just wide. But they kept pushing and were rewarded when Abel Ruiz converted off a Miranda pass from the left. Debutant Tenas then played a key role in breaking sown a powerful Aragonese attack and the ever-lively Riqui Puig brought out the best in the opposition’s keeper at the other end
And it was a strike from Puig that led to Barça B’s second, with Mujica latching onto the rebound second before the half time whistle blew.
Holding on
The second half was more anarchic. Teruel were a constant threat and the home side had a lot less of the ball than they are used to.
With his side uncomfortably forced back into their own half for much of the game, Wague was providential in impeding what looked like a dead-cert goal, and Dieste also came alarmingly close with a header.
But Barça managed to keep hold of their lead, and the three points do wonders for García Pimienta and his men ahead of next week’s visit to a direct rival in the promotion chase Cornellà.
