Atlético Madrid come into the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup with sky-high morale after they fired for five unanswered goals against Rayo Vallecano this Sunday. Atlético’s goal scorers were Raúl García (2), Diego Costa, Arda and Tiago.
Intensity, goals and rotations
Simeone’s men were very intense from the first minute of the match and strikes from Raúl García, Diego Costa and Arda Turan allowed the Colchoneros get to the break with a three-goal lead. In the second half, a goal from Tiago and another from Raúl García closed out the 5-0 rout.
Raúl García was one of the newcomer to Simeone’s starting line-up with respect to the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup played at the Calderón earlier this week. The Spaniard and Tiago stood in for Koke and Mario Suárez. Diego Costa and Arda Turan were also rested as they were subbed off early in the second half.
