Celta’s visit to the Camp Nou will involve plenty of reunions. No fewer than four products of the Barça academy, all of which managed to make first team debuts, are now plying their trade in Vigo. Nolito and Andreu Fontàs were already there last season, and they have been joined this year by Sergi Gómez and Carles Planas.
Nolito
The Andalusian striker is the one that Eduardo Berizzo has got the most use out of. He’s played 93% of the minutes so far this season, and has played at least some part in every game, starting all but one. He’s scored five goals, and four of those have been point-winners. His last minute goal sealed a 1-0 win in Elche, he got the equaliser to make it 2-2 at Atlético Madrid, he got the winner in the Galician derby with Deportivo (2-1) and his strike earned a 1-1 draw in Bilbao.
Andreu Fontàs
Eduardo Berizzo has been using Fontàs to lead the defence. The Catalan played all seven opening games before getting injured. But after missing just two games, he’s back to full fitness and available for selection on Saturday at the Camp Nou.
Sergi Gómez
The centre back is gradually gaining more and more responsibility under Berizzo. Gómez struggled to get a game at first, but Fontàs’ loss was Gómez’s gain and he was used in the games away to Elche and Athletic Bilbao, as well as the resounding 3-0 win over Levante at Balaídos.
Carles Planas
The Catalan full-back has been handed a regular place in the Celta eleven, starting seven out of nine games and only being substituted once. However, he misses out on Saturday’s game at the Camp Nou through injury.
