Two more FC Barcelona players seem set to be involved in next summer’s Euro2016 in France. Ivan Rakitic with Croatia and Arda Turan with Turkey both claimed victories on Tuesday which mean they are both through to the tournament’s final stages. Croatia played out a 1-0 away at Malta whilst Turkey beat Iceland 1-0 at home with a dramatic late winner.
Ivan Rakitic started for Croatia in their victory in Malta and played 77 minutes of a game that was decided by Perisic’s 25th minute effort for the visitors. Croatia, thanks to that win, pip Norway to second place in Group H behind leaders Italy.
Arda Turan played all 90 minutes in a nail biting victory for Turkey over Iceland. A strike from Selcuk Inan just a minute from time was enough to send Turan’s side to France next summer as the third placed side in the qualifying stages with the best record and thus avoiding a tricky play off. Turkey are joined in the final stages by Group A winners the Czech Republic and second placed Iceland.
