FC Barcelona Beach Soccer staged a heroic comeback to win 4-3 against Al-Ahli in the Club World Cup on Thursday which sends them top of the group.
The Catalans got off to a tough start, going 0-2 down within just three minutes. Players like Jordan, Coimbra, Bruno Novo and Madji ran rings around the Barça defence during the first period and took a 0-3 lead through Hamada.
Barça began the comeback with a superb volley by Ozu and, at the start of the second period, Datinha provided further hope of getting a result by narrowing the deficit to one goal. The equaliser came in the third period as Amarelle scored a scissors kick to bring the sides level. From that point, only one team looked likely to take the points, and the crucial goal eventually came through Ozu whose powerful shot gave Barça a 4-3 win.
The victory means Barça top Group 2, followed by Al-Ahli and Sporting Lisbon. This Friday at 4.15pm CET sees the Catalans take on the Portuguese side in the final group game.
