A look at how FC Barcelona players have gotten on so far at Euro 2016

The group stage of the European Championships has come to a close, in which eight FC Barcelona played a prominent role on proceedings.

Only Arda Turan, captaining Turkey, was unable to get to the next round of the competition, as they finished bottom of their group.

Ivan Rakitic, with Croatia, was able to finish top of Group D after an impressive final group game win over Spain, as did Marc-Andre ter Stegen with Germany, in Group C. Spain, with Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique, won their two opening games and finished second in the group. Thomas Vermaelen’s Belgium also qualified, finishing second in Group E behind Italy.

How did Barça’s players get on?

Gerard Piqué

The Barca defender has been the leader at the heart of the Spanish defence. Pique has been assured at the back, and even scored the game’s only goal against Czech Republic. He has managed a pass accuracy of 94% and has made just one foul.

Jordi Alba

The flying full-back has been a key component of Vicente del Bosque’s lineup, starting each game. He too has a pass accuracy of 94% (199/211), and has earned three fouls, while committing just two. Alba also made an assist against Turkey.

Sergio Busquets

The midfield linchpin has started each game for Spain. Busquets has been on the receiving end of four fouls and has committed just three. Of his 235 passes attempted, he has completed 247, giving him a 95% pass accuracy.

Andrés Iniesta

The maestro has been Spain’s best player of the group stages, having been voted the MVP of the first two matches. He has completed the third highest number of passes (265) in the tournament with a 93% success rate and gave a wonderful assist to Pique for the winner against Czech Republic in the group’s opener.

Ivan Rakitic

Following the injury to midfield colleague Luka Modric, Rakitic has assumed the role of the team’s leader. Playing all three games, the Barça man has been key in a superb showing for Croatia so far. He scored in the second group game and so nearly scored against Spain with a wonderful chip, only for it to hit the crossbar with Pique on hand to clear.

Arda Turan

Arda was the only Barça player to suffer elimination at the group stages. Wearing the captain’s armband, Arda played 245 minutes out of 270, and had a 88% pass success rate, completing 99 of 113.

Thomas Vermaelen

The big Belgian centre-back started all three matches in a campaign which started with a loss against Italy but was followed up with two important wins against Republic of Ireland and Sweden. Vermaelen was booked once but has a 95% pass rate.

Marc-André Ter Stegen

The goalkeeper has yet to feature for Germany, with Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich taking the no.1 spot for the competition.
