Betis first up for FC Barcelona in La Liga

Betis will FC Barcelona's first opponents in the league in 2016/17. Luis Enrique's team will begin the defence of their title at home in Camp Nou on 20 or 21 August.
The club from Sevilla returned to the top flight last season and came to Camp Nou for the final league game of 2015 which ended in a 4-0 win for the blaugranes. In the return fixture Barça claimed on important 2-0 victory in the Benito Villamarín on their way to claim the league title.
The first away fixture of the league season 2016/17 will be at San Mamés on 27 or 28 August and the final game of the campaign will come at home to Eibar on 20 or 21 May. On Friday it was also announced that the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla will take place on 14 and 17 August (second leg at Camp Nou) and that the final of the Copa del Rey will be on 27 May.
Derby to round off the calendar year
2016 will end with the Catalan derby against Espanyol. The game will be played on 17 or 18 December and the first game of 2017 will be away at Villarreal on 7 or 8 January.
Two weekends to keep free will be 3/4 December and 22/23 April. Those are the two dates for the Clásico against Real Madrid in Week 14 and 33 of the season. The first meeting will come at Camp Nou and the second at the Santiago Bernabéu. The week after the game in Madrid will come the Catalan derby in Cornellà-El Prat against Espanyol.
