Barça 40-34 Torrelavega: Further ahead

Barça has continued its unstoppable march through the Liga Asobal, securing a 40-34 victory over second-placed Torrelavega. Despite multiple absences, Carlos Ortega’s team delivered a strong performance, further extending their lead at the top of the table.

Facing the league’s second highest ranked team, after themselves, Barça set a high tempo from the start. By the 10th minute, they had carved out a 4-point lead (11-7), gradually asserting dominance as Torrelavega struggled to keep up.

By halftime, Barça maintained their advantage and widened the gap further in the second half. N’Guessan and Javi Rodríguez shone, while key contributions from Richardson and Manuel Ortega ensured control of the game. Goalkeeper Filip Saric also impressed with 12 saves, stepping up in Gonzalo’s absence.

Torrelavega made a late push, closing the gap to three goals with four minutes left, but Barça held firm to seal the win. With this victory, they now lead by nine points with a game in hand. The next match is against Kolstad in the EHF on Wednesday 5 March 5, at the Palau Blaugrana (6.45pm CET).
