Carlos Ortega's team took victory in their first game in the World Club Cup with a 53-23 mauling of Australian side Sydney University. The blaugranes dominated the encounter from start to finish to record a 30 goal winning margin before their next game which comes on Sunday against Al-Ahly.
Barça made their debut against one of the lesser known teams involved in the tournament and coach Carlos Ortega took the chance to rotate. With a youthful line up, the blaugranes took control early on and never relinquished their grip on the game.
It was not long before Barça were +10 up and at half time they led by 27-12.
Ortega's team had the luxury of giving minutes to the likes of Cikusa, Richardson and Ariño after the break. Top scorer in the game was Manuel Ortega with nine, as Barça concluded the game with a record number of goals for a game in the World Club Cup.
