Poland and Robert Lewandowski are through to UEFA Euro 2024 after a win on penalties against Wales in Cardiff (0-0, 4-5), taking one of the last spots for the European tournament this June in Germany.
The clash needed to be decided on penalties after both sides kept a clean sheet after 120 minutes of football, captain Robert Lewandowski stepping up and scoring the first for his Polish side.
As such, Poland go into Euro 2024 group D alongside Frenkie de Jong and the Netherlands, Jules Kounde and France, and Austria. Poland's first game in the tournament will be against the Netherlands on 16 June at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg (kick-off 3pm CEST). Then come Austria and France in Berlin and Dortmund respectively.
Ensuring qualification for the tournament in Germany means Lewandowski can play his fourth European Championship. His first was in 2012, when he scored the first goal of the tournament, and he went on to play in 2016 and 2020. The Polish marksman also played in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
