Thiago Alcántara has announced his retirement at the age of 33. After spending the last four seasons of his career at Liverpool, the midfielder who came out of La Masia has decided to call a day on a remarkable career that began at FC Barcelona, where he learned the game and made his first moves into the professional game.
His honours at the club included the Champions League, four Ligas, two Copas del Rey and the Club World Cup. This was achieved in over 100 games, scoring 11 goals and delivering 20 assists.
Despite his obvious innate talents, injuries blighted much of his time at Barça, and weren't too kind to him playing at Bayern Munich, Liverpool and for Spain either. Nevertheless, he still gifted us many moments of brilliance and will be sorely missed.
