Barça Women 6-0 Atlético Madrid: No let up

Complete performance in the Estadi Johan Cruyff with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Atlético Madrid at the beginning of an important week of the 2024/25 season. Six goals from six different players, Pere Romeu's team look on good form ahead of fixtures at home against Sevilla on Wednesday and Chelsea on Sunday. 

Ona Batlle and Graham Hansen back

Club competition returned as did Ona Batlle and Caroline Graham Hansen to the Barça side after injury. The blaugranes started brightly and after early chances it was in the 17th minute that Barça took the lead. Patri Guijarro scored a spectacular goal, flicking home a cross with his heel to make it 1-0. Atlético did not fold and had their chances to equalise only to come up against an inspired Cata Coll in goal. 

Salma and Graham secure win

Just when the game appeared to be a tight affair, the talent of Champions appeared. Aitana opened up space and Salma Paralluello finished skilfully to make it 2-0 some ten minutes before half time. 

In the second half Barça turned on the style. Graham Hansen latched on to Alexia's ball into the far post to make it 3-0 on 54 minutes. The Norwegian turned provider for Brugts to make it 4-0 just before the hour mark. Pere Romeu made changes and one of the substitutes, Vicky López, made it 5-0 on 64 minutes. Aitana rounded off a great performance with a goal for herself to make the final score 6-0 with just 10 minutes left.
