Barça Women to meet Chelsea in Champions League semi finals

So we meet again. Barça Women will face Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Champions League for the third season in a row following on from the London side's victory on Thursday over Manchester City in the quarter finals. 

The first leg will be on Saturday 19 April in Barcelona with the second leg to come a week later in London. 

A fashionable match up 

The two sides are no strangers after meeting on four occasions in the last three seasons, Barça coming out on top in each. 

In 2021 the sides came face to face in the final with Barça winning 4-0. In 2023 they met in the semi finals with Barça winning 2-1 on aggregate and last season the blaugranes needed a 2-0 win in London to cancel out the 1-0 defeat in Barcelona in the first leg as they met in the last four once again. Every time Barça have beaten Chelsea, they have gone on to win the trophy. 

Demanding tie 

Chelsea are currently top of the league in England with an 8 point lead over Arsenal as they chase a sixth title in six seasons. Amongst the elite of European Football in recent seasons, it will be a demanding tie over two legs for Pere Romeu's team.
