Barça have marched on in their quest to defend their Champions League crown, securing an emphatic 6-1 victory over Wolfsburg at the Estadi Johan Cruyf (aggregate 10-2) to reach the last four of the UWCL for the seventh consecutive season.
The 4-1 first-leg win had already put them in a commanding position, but they made sure to finish the job in style this Thursday. Salma Paralluelo (2), Esmee Brugts, Claudia Pina (2), and María León all found the net, confirming their passage to a meeting with Chelsea, with the first leg set to take place at home on April 19/20 and the return leg in England on April 26/27.
Game Over in 20 Minutes
If Wolfsburg had any hopes of pulling off a comeback, they needed an early goal. But Barça never let them settle, quickly taking control of possession and dictating the tempo.
Then came the Paralluelo show. The forward opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing brilliantly with a precise shot into the bottom left corner. Just ten minutes later, she was at it again, this time converting a perfect cross from Brugts with a clinical header to make it 2-0.
Brugts then added her own name to the scoresheet just before halftime, smashing home a powerful strike from outside the box to set up a 3-0 lead at the break.
Deal sealed
With qualification all but secured, Barça kept their foot on the gas. In the 61st minute, a superb through ball from Alexia Putellas split the Wolfsburg defence, allowing Pina to slot home the fourth.
Wolfsburg pulled one back as Beerensteyn pounced on a rebound after Cata Coll’s initial save, but the goal did little to change the outcome.
If anything, Barça only turned up the heat. Just five minutes later, Pina produced a stunning free-kick, curling it past the keeper to restore the four-goal advantage. And deep into stoppage time, María León capped off the rout with a thunderous long-range effort.
The dream of back-to-back Champions League titles remains very much alive.
