Costa Adeje Tenerife 2-6 Barça Women: Into the quarters

A wonderful 2024 draws to a close with a 6-2 win away to Costa Adeje Tenerife. The home side managed to come back from two goals down but the Catalans were too much for them in the end and will be playing in the quarter finals of the Copa de la Reina.

Two-goal lead cancelled

The European champions struggled to get started, but once they did, and Paredes had made it 1-0 on 21 minutes and Pajor added a second from a corner just three minutes later, it looked like Barça were set for an easy afternoon.

But Tenerife had nother plans. They had nothing to lose and went on the attack and late in the first half both Monday and Aleksandra found the net. To the delight of the home crowd, the teams were back to all-square as the second half got under way.

Goals start flowing

But in the second half, Barça moved things up a gear and as more goals flew in, this time there was nothing Tenerife could do to counter them. Two penalties re-established the two-goal cushion, the first converted by Alexia and the second by Pajor.

And they were also the scorers of the last two goals of the day, this time from open play, Alexia in the 88th minutes and Pajor in injury time, and in doing so completing her hat-trick.
